The Slough Jets are delighted to confirm that goaltending duo Matt Smital and Ruari McGibbon will return for the 2026/27 season!
Head coach Lukas Smital commented…
“It’s great to have both Matt and Ruari back for another season. Matt has become one of the top goalies in the league and gives the team a lot of confidence whenever he’s in net.
Ruari is a very talented young goalie who has a bright future ahead of him. He works hard every day, has a great attitude and keeps making big improvements in his development every year.
Having two goalies like Matt and Ruari is really important for us. They push each other every day and give us strong competition in net. I’m very happy to have them both back and looking forward to working with them again this season.”
Matty added…
“Really happy to be back with the Slough Jets for a third season.
The last two years have been special for me. I’ve loved my hockey here, playing with a great group of lads and in front of the best fans around.
While we had another successful season, we all know how it ended and that doesn’t sit right with us. There’s definitely some unfinished business there.
I’m grateful to the club for bringing me back and excited for what’s ahead. We’ve got a good group, high expectations, and I’m confident we can achieve something special this year.

“Hi guys,
I’m super happy to be re-signing with Slough for next season. I felt like my game matured a lot over the course of last year and I’m hungry to keep improving.
I’m really excited to continue learning alongside Matty, Lukas and the rest of the guys, and I can’t wait to get started again for season.”
